This guide is aimed at assisting potential applicants. It is provided for information purposes only and its contents  
are not intended to replace consultation of any applicable legal sources or the necessary advice of a legal expert, where appropriate. The guide will be regularly updated to take into account experience and feedback from users.

The legal framework for a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC)1 has been designed to facilitate the establishment and operation of research infrastructures of European interest with the involvement of several European countries. Complementing national and inter-governmental schemes, the ERIC Regulation provides a common legal framework based on Article 1872 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU)3.
