New lights on ancient materials 2010 (27th May – 2nd
June 2010) The training school sustained by COST was organised
and held at Synchrotronby SOLEIL IPANEMA was centered on the
application of synchrotron techniques to the analysis of cultural
heritage samples. It aimed at sharing knowledge between ancient
materials specialists and synchrotron scientists on this subject
and as such contributes to the information sharing and collecting
of WP2 on sample preparation.
The school, especially dedicated to young scientists, was
characterised by lectures on the most advanced applications of
X-ray analytical methodologies using synchrotron facilities and to
the discussion of problems related to the preparation of suitable
samples.
This edition of the School supported by CHARISMA was focused
on the X-ray-based studies of sediments, wood, bone, clays, and
ceramics.
