MOLAB Available facility: Imaging systems
Two multi-spectral scanning imaging systems, both designed and assembled at the CNR-INO laboratories as evolutions of a prototype developed within EU-ARTECH, are available through the MOLAB transnational access.
The first has 16 bands: 13 in the near IR covering the range 800-2265 nm, and 3 for acquiring a colour RGB image of the painting. The second has 32 bands: 16 in the IR (800-2400) and 16 in the visible range (400-800). The scanning systems are the same for both instruments, with a speed of acquisition of about 3 hours per square meter. The whole hardware is USB controlled.
The instrument software is also the same for both systems, it was designed and it is maintained at INO. It consent the recording of the multi-spectral images with real-time monitoring of the acquisition through an user-friendly GUI (Graphic User Interface). The program is written in .NET and runs on Windows systems (also on notebooks). The multi-spectral data is stored as 16-bit image datasets, one for each hardware channel.
